Character Development Workspace: QUANT
Clarity of thought, based upon logical, reasonable, measurable ideas. Precise and practical, Quant works with facts and details, and possesses impressive powers of concentration in order to do this work properly. Reluctant to respond to experimental approaches, Quant’s view is always limited. Sometimes, Quant misses subjective/social implications. Shares family passion for numbers, analysis: The Count ("Sesame Street") and Spock ("Star Trek") are part of Quant’s family tree.

ISTJ
Technical. Detail oriented. Prefers the real world to the theoretical exploration of intangible ideas. Superior powers of concentration, able to recall facts and details within a logical framework. Doesn’t waste time or energy. (His/her code is clean.) Precise. Works to standards, and does not understand why others don’t work or think the same way. Prefers a clear structure, a high-functioning environment where people are quiet as they get things done. Prefers not to hurry, or to express opinions without detailed research. Wants to understand precisely what the goal is, what the expectations are, how the timetable and resources are to be managed. Values tradition, tried-and-true ways of working, thinking, interacting. No reason to develop or pursue anything new unless it’s clear that the old is no longer reliable. Prefers individual interaction or small groups, not wild about large ones.
Potential Areas of Conflict
If it’s not obvious, it may be invisible. Rules out the possibilities simply because he/she lacks personal experience, and doubts that others can make it happen. Overly cautious. Rigid thinker—finds it difficult to consider a wide range of possibilities. Confident, but only within a limited range. Quickly gravitates toward the traditional solutions. Not a people person, more of a process person, so the interpersonal and atmospheric may be lost on him/her. May seem to lack enthusiasm—and this may be genuine, or it may be reluctance. Tough for this person to move forward, but he/she is not resistant to help from the right person under the right circumstances.
