Learning by Doing
Our development process began with curiosity, not curriculum. We asked one another questions about God, public health, 21st century friendship and the possibility of being blown to bits when an asteriod collides with earth. We invited scholars to join the conversation, and they encouraged us. To add life to the questions, we began to develop characters, then wondered about the environment where they would live or work. We also developed a game format to encourage audience participation (still in development, not yet available on this website). As you explore this website, you'll see the work that we have done.
Our team developed a list of fifty viable questions, then developed sixteen questions as detailed outlines. We wrote scripts for several, hired a dozen talented Philadelphia actors, and recorded their first readings just to see how the material felt on screen. These early workouts are intended for our internal use, not for release to a general audience. That comes much later in the process.
For now, welcome to our first rehearsal...
