Character Development Workspace: BIG PICTURE

High energy, always seeing possibilities. Often shapes the discussion, directed toward an achievable, powerful end goal. Gets along with everyone. Fast-paced, exciting, active life. Never tires of working through new or different ways of thinking. Always conflicted between the theoretical and the practical, can often combine the two. Not into details, but insists upon an efficiency (lack of it wastes valuable time). Casual. Comfortable with powerful people. Tells a terrific story, but the story’s fine points change with each telling.

ESTJ

Systematic, organized, relies upon facts and policies. Uses resources efficiently. Develops logical conclusions. Concrete, straightforward; requires clear specifications. Expects measurement by fair, explicit standards. Conscientious. Does not bring personal issues into the mix. Realistic. Focuses on concrete results. Enjoys action, and interaction with a variety of personalities. Takes charge easily, a role accepted by others.

ENTP

Enjoys thinking through useful solutions to difficult problems, especially if they are new or innovative, perhaps less for big picture change than for incremental improvements. Competent, quick on his/her feet, logical, reasonable, makes decisions based upon logic, not personalities. Wants to interact with others, to feel the flow of influence between them, but doesn’t do as well with people who aren’t so clever, or who are unprepared. Works with high energy, can handle rapid change and new details coming in constantly. Casual, lots of personal freedom and time away to think.

Potential Areas of Conflict

An idea generator, he or she may lose track of options because there are so many of them. Doesn’t deal with details. May create a great deal of confusion, may lose sight of priorities. Dismissive, especially if the suggestions are illogical. Other peoples’ feelings don’t matter as much as being right, or, at least, thinking things through in a reasonable way. Procrastinator. May let good opportunities slide away because of poor time and priority management. Very energetic, especially when new or divergent ideas pop into his/her head—so he/she interrupts others, stops listening, re-routes the conversation either through thoughtlessness or honest enthusiasm. Finds it difficult to slow down, to relax with others. Crappy follow-through. Lacks focus, except sometimes.
