ENFP

So much stimulation from such a diverse group! Highly motivated, always jumps in, makes suggestions, tries to solve problems. Always first to suggest, arrange, meet new people to expand the circle. Best if Spark can move at his or her own pace, without too many rules. Strong orientation toward public good. Warm sense of humor. Enjoys plenty of personal freedom.

Potential Areas of Conflict

Gets lost in the excitement. Leaps before looking; ready, fire, aim! Undisciplined. Plans often disrupted or sidelined because someone or something interesting came along. Not very good about showing up on time or in the right place (time and space confusion), rarely prepared, erratic follow-through.

Brief description: Spark is spontaneous, a catalyst without a particular plan, a character who laughs easily, a class clown who believes anything is possible. An energizing presence with a wonderful sense of humor, it relies upon instinct. Jumps in without thinking, escapes consequences. No deep study, no careful research, just a sense that if it feels right, it probably is right. Neither flaky nor lightweight, but sometimes seems that way. Terrific advocate. Completely enthralled with the ongoing, exciting challenge of tough questions and the free exchange of ideas. Sometimes, there are multiple points of view, and they conflict with one another. Squark can split and represent them all. Squark is a sub-atomic particle.

Purpose: A catalyst: helps others to see the light and to grow. Adds energy. Endlessly, deeply curious. Great love of group interaction for its own sake; teaching, learning and sharing; witty exchanges and fascination with new / different ideas. Music lover: plays itself as an instrument. Squark is a distracting jester spirit who understands the universe as a magical combination of particles, vibrations, sounds, patterns, and play. Laughs at reality, knows it’s just a construct that hardly exists at a deeper level. A comedian who illuminates the darkness. We’re all here to explore. If nothing is making sense, or everyone is plain stubborn, Spark may overheat (or melt down) and become an angry preacher pushing everyone to break from their collective addictions and rethink their realities.

Gender/Heritage: Part of a proud, and extremely large, community of sub-atomic particles, all related, all spinning around one another. Asexual. Impish. Connected to Tinkerbelle, among many others.

Physical Description: A rounded yellowish bundle of jagged energy with big eyes, quick movements, and occasional energy bursts. Small hands, perhaps a nose or ears that light up, but better if the whole body glowed with energy and enthusiasm. With all that power, Spark is careful around children and spilled water (Spark never shocks to harm).

Psychological: Much can be made of the uncertainty principle that guides the lives of our sub-atomic particles (this will be a playful version of the actual science). Ditto for dualities—existing as both a particle and wave, for example (Squark encourages dualities, trialities, quadalities, etc. of thought, answers and ideas). Squark is informal, laughs easily and often, high energy, enthusiastic, popular, low stress. No respect for or understanding of structure or authority. Disruptive for what it considers good reasons. Squark tends toward hedonism—healthy pleasures of body and spirit (in ways that are unimaginable to humans or puppets). Very into stimulation for its own sake.

Fears: Sub-atomic particles are not afraid, they just are.

Social: Squark lives in its own schedule in the midst of friendships that go on forever. Vast network—humans’ Facebook is crude compared with with sub-atomic sharing. Gentle, illuminating touch, a sense of humor and wonder. Extremely gregarious; constantly bringing new people, characters, and all sorts of interesting stuff into the cafe. Can transmogrify, de- and re-materialize (equivalent of “beam me up, Scotty”) and do other neat stuff. Being sub-atomic level has its benefits.

Key Relationships: Squark is a strange quark (hence, “squark”), one of many strange quarks in a hadron, held together by a strong force. There is an anti-squark who must thrive in order for squark to thrive, but they could not be more unlike one another. Squark lives in a complex network of mesons, gluons, baryons, neutralinos, gravatinos, up quarks, down quarks, and more. Squark is surrounded by sub-atomics throughout the cafe, the region, the world, the universe, but our Squark is exploring new terrain by spending time in the cafe.

Place in Cafe: Spark floats, flits from one idea and conversation to another. Requires a periodic recharge, so there’s a small charging station where Spark must spend its quiet time in order to replenish.

0-to-60: Speaks its mind, but mostly short, sometimes abrasive bursts. Pretty load and sparky sometimes. Doesn’t engage in a long argument. When the same thing is being said over and over again, Squark loses interest, dims, and float off. When stupid things are being said, and the conversation becomes unhinged, Squark enters his fiery preacher mode, and everyone’s eyebrows are seared. When raging, Squark will glow white or blue hot, but it goes dissipates very quickly.

Accessory Characters: Lots and lots and lots of lots of other subatomic particles who show up in our scripts from time to time. It may be that subatomic particles provide the energy for social and interactive learning, so they may be vitally important to the success of our enterprise.
